To kick off a new semester, the Professional Science Master’s program invited our Master of Business and Science (MBS) students to join us for a summer barbecue!

Our barbecue took place right outside the SERC building, located on Busch Campus. We offered a full menu of traditional barbecue food (with vegetarian options included), music, and yard games—including Jenga and cornhole!
MBS students (including new students just joining our program!) mingled with faculty, staff, and each other. This was a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where students could meet professors, reconnect with peers, and share excitement for the upcoming semester.
This event provided a great networking opportunity. Students were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and talk to new classmates. If you are an MBS student, don’t be afraid to connect with your classmates and professors on LinkedIn! To learn more about how to make the most out of your LinkedIn profile, read advice from a previous virtual Friday.
As the evening drew to a close, one thing was clear: events like this create lasting impressions. This was an opportunity for students to meet faculty outside the classroom and get to know classmates before starting new classes. For many, it was a reminder that the MBS degree offers both rigorous coursework as well as a strong community and professional network.
Our summer barbecue is just the beginning. Throughout the semester, we’ll offer more events like this one—Virtual Fridays, industry panels, happy hours, and professional workshops to help you make the most of your MBS experience.
