Description

This course ties together science- and business-based offerings in the MBS degree program for Global Agriculture and will draw on expertise from several individual disciplines represented in the curriculum. Gain a critical look at the modern food supply chain, challenges faced by the growing population, effects of climate change and biotechnology, differential agricultural practices, and how global economic development will affect the agricultural industry and consumers.   

Course Objectives
  • Analyze major challenges and opportunities in global agriculture. 
  • Examine the history, statistics, practices, commodities, diets, and trade patterns that shape agriculture in the United States and globally. 
  • Evaluate the role of biotechnology in agriculture, including future applications and ethical considerations. 
  • Assess the impact of climate change and environmental sustainability on agricultural systems and policy frameworks.
