The year 2020, and the COVID-19 pandemic that defined it, will go down in history as one of the most pivotal, life-altering time-periods, ever—one that was universally and equally devastating, and one that will likely change for good the way we communicate, learn, and work.

There were, of course, some silver linings, and there were also moments of levity that made some of the tougher times more bearable. 

One entity, Emsi—a labor analytics firm on which we at MBS regularly rely to extract industry-specific workforce data—took levity next-level by incorporating great humor into otherwise serious, straightforward (and sometimes sobering) reports about current workforce trends and market demands. In particular, they went out of their way to eliminate any sort of dryness (literally) in their labor reports by introducing “Beer With Emsi,"–with new episodes released each Friday. To catch up:

In mid-JanuaryEmsi CINO Rob Sentz reported on the seven most important jobs of 2021 –careers that are in-demand, lucrative, and critical to effectively confront, manage, and minimize impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last Friday, January 29, Sentz followed up with how it pays to be human (and employ humanity) by detailing the ten “human” skills most sought after by in a video titled, appropriately, “Human Skills: What it Means to be Human.”

Today, February 5, 2021, Emsi CEO Andrew Crapuchettes gives us an overview of what January’s labor trends tell us about the future, which you can watch here:
