Networking plays a crucial role in professional development, often opening doors to new connections, exciting projects, and better career opportunities. In fact, Hubspot reports that 85% of jobs are filled through networking. A referral or insight from your network can give you a significant edge in today’s competitive job market, often leading to that job offer.
Recognizing the importance of networking, the Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program is committed to fostering a strong community among our students and alumni. We understand that your next opportunity could be just one connection away. To support this, we recently held two in-person happy hour events for the Personal Care Science and Sustainability concentrations on September 18th and 25th, hosted by Dr. Jay Goldring and Abbe Rosenthal, MA, PCC, DYL Certified Coach.
These events provided a space outside of the classroom for students and alumni to connect and build new relationships. Faculty members, including and MBS instructors Edward Linky and Kevin Lyons, also joined us at the Inn.
“The goal is to get students talking to each other,” said Dr. Goldring, “to get them together to figure out, discuss what they do on a day-to-day basis, what their goals are, and to give them some ideas about where they want their MBS journey to go."
Our students and alumni are at various stages of their careers, both within and outside the personal care and sustainability industries. The events offered a unique opportunity for them to exchange diverse perspectives. Even students from other concentrations joined in, expanding the network for all involved.
A big thank you to everyone who attended and made the happy hours such a success! If you missed these events, don't worry—we have more exciting events coming soon.
