The MBS Journey: New Student Orientation Fall 2025

On September 5th, 2025, the Master of Business and Science (MBS) degree team warmly welcomed our new students to the fall 2025 semester! After hosting an online orientation in late August, we hosted an in-person orientation at the Zimmerli Art Museum on College Avenue Campus.

The event was hosted by Executive Director Deborah Silver and MBS executive coaches and instructors Kathleen Cashman and Abbe Rosenthal. They were also joined by MBS faculty and staff members, allowing students to ask questions about their academics, and alumni who shared their own experiences completing the degree. The MBS alumni who joined us for our online and in-person orientations included:

That evening, the museum was filled with excitement as students mingled, took part in fun activities, and learned more about the innovative MBS degree.

With over 700 students currently registered for fall 2025, the MBS community reflects a wide range of backgrounds and industries.

The evening was filled with fun activities and exercises, allowing them to practice their networking skills. They were also introduced to the Designing Your Life (DYL) methodology—a cornerstone element of our program. Our MBS executive coaches use the DYL framework to guide students in identifying their ideal life and career and designing an individualized pathway to achieve this.

The MBS Edge

The MBS degree is designed to help students reach their professional goals. Silver, Cashman, and Rosenthal all shared the ways that the MBS degree will help students succeed. Here are some of the many opportunities we provide:

  • Outstanding curriculum. Our courses are taught and shaped by industry experts. They are designed to provide you with both scientific knowledge and essential business skills.
  • Experiential learning. Our courses and events are experiential! We also offer an externship experience and internship program—these opportunities are great for students who need to build a portfolio.
  • Capstone. Finish your MBS journey by completing our Capstone course, which takes the place of a traditional master’s thesis. In this course, complete a project that showcases business and science skills that you have acquired over the course of your education.
  • Alumni network. We have a robust alumni network spanning across industries and geographic locations. In addition to our formal alumni-student mentoring program, we frequently invite alumni to our events to mingle with students.
  • Events and networking opportunities. Networking is a crucial skill that we help students build. Our events, guest lectures, and colloquia are just a few of the ways we provide formal networking opportunities for students.

Students did not leave empty-handed. They received copies of the MBS Playbook, which outlines the history of our program and what makes it so successful.

To all new MBS students, welcome! And to all MBS students, welcome back for a new and exciting semester! We have a host of exciting events coming up this semester. For a full list, visit our events page. Follow us on X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram to stay up-to-date with MBS news.
