On September 13th, the Professional Science Master’s program kicked off the fall semester with an in-person social event at the Rutgers University Inn and Conference Center. Master of Business and Science (MBS) students and alumni gathered for an afternoon of barbecue, delicious food, and engaging conversation.
Located behind the historic Rutgers University Inn is a back patio surrounded by lush forest. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni gathered in the fresh air and sunlight—a refreshing change from our usual indoor gatherings. Students from all concentrations broke into smaller groups to meet and connect. New students discussed their classes, current students expanded their networks, and alumni shared their post-graduation experiences.
MBS student Saselah Heywood expressed her excitement for the upcoming semester.
“I’m looking forward to meeting new people who have joined the MBS program,” said Heywood, “and people that I didn’t get to meet last year. Making these new connections is something I’m look forward to.”
Alumni Kevin Kelley returned to reconnect with professors and fellow alumni, reflecting on how past events helped him in his career. “I had a great time at one of the previous mixers—the holiday dinner--and I was able to make a few good connections that led to getting a job after I graduated,” said Kelley. “Now, I want to give back to the students.”
This mixer was more than just a place to meet people—it was a place to unlock new opportunities. These gatherings are a powerful way to build relationships that can shape your career, opening doors to unexpected paths.
At the Professional Science Master’s program, we are committed to fostering a strong and supportive community. With more mixers planned this semester, including happy hour events specifically for our Personal Care Science and Sustainability concentrations, there are plenty of chances to get involved. Be sure to sign up and make the most of these opportunities!
