Receive an introduction and hands-on experience in data visualization, visual analytics, and visual data storytelling. Study design principles for creating meaningful displays of quantitative and qualitative data to facilitate managerial decision-making in the field of business analytics. Leverage the power of data visualization to communicate business-relevant implications of analyses. Modules are organized around concepts, tools, and applications, and cover the visual analytics process from beginning to end, from collecting, preparing, and analyzing data to creating data visualizations, dashboards, and stories that share critical business insights. Leverage the analytical capabilities of Tableau, the industry's leading visualization tool, and learn how to use this technology competently.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, be able to:

  • Discuss the increasing importance of analytics and visualization in today's data-prevalent markets
  • Articulate best practices in data visualization and visual data storytelling
  • Explain data visualization principles and guidelines for effective analysis and presentation
  • Effectively use the Tableau Desktop Interface for visual discovery and analysis
  • Know how to clean and prepare different forms of data sets for visual analysis in Tableau
