WIA Cafe: Finding my place in Information Architecture: A Personal and Professional Journey

World Information Architecture Association (WIAA) is hosting this event, and the Rutgers MBS program is supporting it.

The speaker for this interactive event is Grace Lau. Grace is an information architect based in Los Angeles. She has been working in IA for nearly 20 years, collaborating with a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies such as Disney and Blue Shield of California to small businesses and nonprofits. Grace's work focuses on creating intuitive and user-friendly experiences. Her areas of specialization include information architecture, user research, interaction design, content strategy, and taxonomy.

In this webinar, Grace will focus on information architecture (IA), a field she discovered through building a website for a high school class. She will discuss IA's core principles of structuring and organizing information for findability and understanding using relatable examples like organizing a kitchen. This talk will follow Grace through her career journey from library and information studies to IA, highlighting the importance of mentorship and the evolution of the field. She'll share insights from her work with the World IA Association and World IA Day, emphasizing the importance of building a global community around this often-invisible but crucial field.
