Description

Examine the rationale and theories that integrate economic principles and incentives to support market-based approaches to proactive sustainability—giving a rich, historical overview of corporate engagement with regard to the environment. Examine current strategies and frameworks within which companies perform carbon management; current and proposed carbon regulations; tort liability; regulatory compliance; the clean development mechanism credits under the Kyoto Protocol; and major voluntary standards across different global markets. Case studies will be used to illustrate class concepts as applied to corporate sustainability efforts, incorporating elements of business, science, and bottom-line impacts.
