Semesters(s) Offered

Fall
Description

Examine two important aspects of engineering management: engineering management itself and systems engineering using the principles of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Both aspects tightly relate to Business Analysis (BA). MBSE allows a design team to keep all the aspects of the problem and potential solutions visible and accessible to them, easily grasp the effects of changes made to their solution and easily communicate the current state of the solution without ambiguity to stakeholders and other team members. Systems engineering is a BA discipline found within all engineering fields and is applicable to all work and home activities. Systems engineering/BA goes together with engineering/business management. The principles learned in this course may help you prepare for initial level certification as a business analyst by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Use a classical Systems Engineering Process as an Engineer or Business Analyst/Engineering or Business Manager
  • Use a model based Systems Engineering (MBSE)/Business Analysis Modeling Tool
