Learn about the relationship between scientific discovery and application to identify specific areas of interest for your academic and professional career through an integrated, cross-disciplinary approach that characterizes the Master of Business and Science degree. Develop a group project to highlight a novel technology and its applications.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Acquire an understanding of recent and advanced technologies important to the biotechnology field using the ability to search scientific databases and read the scientific literature.
- Examine existing and potential applications of these technologies, including the limitations and advantages of competing approaches.
- Analyze the problems and limitations associated with new and emerging technologies that are applied in biotechnology.
- Work in teams to identify potential new applications of biotechnology and genomics using the scientific literature as a guide.
- Utilize necessary written and oral communications skills needed to work within a team and communicate the team project objectives and plan to the rest of the class.
