The spring 2024 semester is in full swing! At the Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program, we strive to give all of our students opportunities to make lasting connections while pursuing the Master of Business and Science (MBS) degree. On January 26th, PSM Assistant Director and Executive Coach Abbe Rosenthal, MA, PCC, DYL Certified Coach, hosted a virtual welcome for our new students to give them a taste of the PSM community.

During the virtual welcome, students broke into groups to mingle. Students shared information about themselves, including professional and academic interests. Current students provided tips and insight on how to succeed as an MBS student.

Here are just a few of the topics students and Rosenthal discussed.

  • Courses. We offer a variety of cutting-edge courses in science and business. Students shared insight on how to make the most out of the courses we offer. For more insight, MBS students can drop in on advising sessions (found on our events page) or schedule one-on-one sessions with our academic advisors.
  • Externship Exchange Program. The MBS Externship Exchange Program allows students to tackle real-world problems under the guidance of a corporate mentor and MBS advisors. Students shared their experiences completing an externship. As the Assistant Director of the MBS Externship Exchange Program, Rosenthal answered questions and provided insight on the value of completing an externship.
  • Internships. MBS students can complete a professional or research internship, leveraging what they have learned in the classroom while receiving classroom instruction from Rosenthal.
  • Design Your Life (DYL). DYL has been a cornerstone of an MBS education since 2019, teaching students how to apply design thinking to their lives and careers. Rosenthal is hosting a two-part DYL workshop

These virtual mingles help students easily connect and find classmates in and outside their concentrations. The PSM program is here to support our students in any way that we can. We give our students the tools to market themselves and encourage MBS students to step outside their comfort zones.
