When it comes to the Rutgers Career and Internship Mega Fair, learning how to market yourself to potential employers can be a challenge. However, the Rutgers Professional Science Master’s program not only gives you a unique education but we also teach you how to use the MBS degree to differentiate yourself.

What is the Master of Business and Science degree? Our degree offers customizable, STEM-based business instruction. We offer over 25 academic concentrations in three key areas: Life Sciences, Engineering Management, and Computer and Information Sciences.

We are dedicated to helping our students achieve their professional goals. As part of this mission, we offer workshops for professional development.

Abbe Rosenthal, MA, PCC, DYL Certified Coach, Assistant Director and MBS Executive Coach, hosted a Work On Me Wednesday and Virtual Friday to help students improve their resume, learn how to language themselves, and prepare for the Career and Internship Mega Fair. Rosenthal describes the MBS education as teaching students how to be fluent in the language of both business and science. It’s a merger between the two subjects, allowing students to communicate with both the technical and business side of a team. Having this expertise in both areas can help students stand out and differentiate themselves when applying for jobs. Of course, this doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of all that we offer students—including internship and externship experiences, networking events, and executive coaching.

Rosenthal encouraged students to leverage the singularity of our degree and to also figure out what makes them unique.

Of course, there’s no better way to learn than by doing. Students broke into groups and practiced personal pitches—communicating who they are in 90 seconds or less. To do this, students can leverage their education, previous work experiences, and other interests.

If you are an MBS student, practice your personal pitch! Use the language you’re comfortable with and make it uniquely, authentically your own. This pitch can be used not only for the career fair but for any interviewing experience. For more tips, check out our previous blog post on preparing for the Rutgers Career and Internship Mega Fair.
