How can you join a supportive community? By becoming an MBS student!
During our most recent Virtual Friday, Abbe Lynn Rosenthal, MA, PCC, DYL Certified Coach & Facilitator, kicked off the semester by giving students a warm, virtual welcome! 30 students joined her via Zoom to connect, network, and learn more about what MBS has to offer.
Students came from a variety of backgrounds. Some students came with no previous work experience, others came with the intention to pivot roles or industries, and several came with the intention to advance in their roles. This virtual welcome helps students connect, share wisdom, and learn from each other.
Rosenthal shared key MBS resources to benefit all students, regardless of their background:
- Mentoring. We have a formal alumni-student mentoring program. Additionally, alumni are invited to many of our events—so keep an eye out!
- Jobscan. Jobscan is a tool that helps job seekers land more interviews by using AI to analyze their application materials against any job description. We have some licenses that we can offer to MBS students.
- Colloquia. Our colloquia help students step outside their comfort zone, make new connections, and learn more about the workforce. We host many events for our students each semester, both in-person and online—online students are welcome to attend our in-person events if they choose.
- Design Your Life. DYL has been a cornerstone of an MBS education since 2019, teaching students how to apply design thinking to their lives and careers. Join Rosenthal for a DYL session on October 23rd.
- Courses. We offer a variety of cutting-edge courses in science and business. Students shared with each other which classes they loved—highlighting our Project Management course taught by Eddy Vertil.
- Events. This week, we’re hosting a happy hour for sustainability students and alumni—just one event of many to help students connect!
Students broke into breakout rooms to network, ask questions, and build their MBS community. Don’t be afraid to connect with other MBS students on LinkedIn. If you want to take your LinkedIn profile to the next level, check out tips from Sarah Viner, customer success manager at LinkedIn on the LinkedIn Learning team.
To all new MBS students, welcome! We can’t wait to see you at our events and in our classrooms this semester.
