On October 30, just one week after Rutgers University was ranked among Reuters’ top 100 World’s Most Innovative Universities, the Rutgers Innovation and Entrepreneurship Expo was held at the College Avenue Student Center (CASC)—showcasing universitywide ingenuity, creativity, and the many resources available to student and alumni entrepreneurs.
September is a busy time here in Singapore – many conferences are hosted in the month after summer comes to a close. I had the good fortune of being able to speak at two of those conferences: the Asia Reformulation Conference and Vitafoods Asia, both on behalf of my employer, Lux Research, where I am a Food & Nutrition Analyst.

September 12, 2019, marked an eventful evening for Rutgers MBS Analytics students when we attended the Phillies #CollegeSeries Business Analytics Night at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia. The event was comprised of 3 parts: a networking hour, a panel discussion, and, of course, a baseball game featuring the Philadelphia Phillies against the Atlanta Braves. Students from several different universities attended the event.
On September 25, 2019, the 7th floor of the CoRE building became the venue for a Design Slam. Hosted by Josephine Giaimo of the New Jersey chapter of the User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA), participants enjoyed some pre-slam chit-chat, some light snacks, and then dove right in.
Externships are great opportunities for MBS students.
Externships are company-sponsored projects open to students of all concentrations during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. International students as well as domestic students are welcome to participate in the program, which gives students the experience of solving real-world problems.
The Rutgers’ Fall Career and Internship Mega fair took place on September 9-11 at RAC on Livingston Campus. The MBS students attending summed up their experience as exciting, engaging and informative. Many Rutgers students seeking technical opportunities visited the fair on September 9th, while others who were interested in both technical and non-technical opportunities attended on September 10th and 11th. This event was open to all Rutgers students and alumni. Students had opportunity to meet fellow Rutgers students from Newark and Camden campus.
MBS alumni and students attended the first-ever Rutgers MBS Leadership Bootcamp on June 14, 2019. Abbe Rosenthal, Assistant Director and Executive Coach at the Professional Science Master's (PSM) program envisioned and hosted the successful event that provided the participants with a range of leadership development tools. Abbe welcomed students, and Kathleen Cashman, an instructor and also an Executive Coach at the PSM program, kicked off the bootcamp by asking the participants ‘What will you do when you cross the threshold?’.
