Sustainability Curriculum

Business Courses

A total of 19 credits are required in the business curriculum.

Required Business Courses:

• 16:137:500 Ethics in Science and Technology Management (1cr)
• 16:137:502 Principles of Communication and Leadership (3cr)
• 16:137:507 Market Assessment and Analysis for Business and Science - Life Sciences (3cr)
• 16:137:530 Principles of Accounting and Finance for Science and Technology (3cr)
• 16:137:600 Science and Technology Management Capstone (3cr)

Suggested Business Elective(s):

• choose 2 business electives (e.g., Project Management, Supply Chain, Intellectual Property, etc.) (6cr)

Science Courses

A total of 24 credits are required in the science curriculum.

Students are required to take 8 courses in the science of sustainability. This includes 5 core courses and 3 courses in ANY of the following areas: Environmental Science and Engineering, Energy and Sustainable Technologies, and Urban Ecosustainability.

The concentration in Sustainability is offered at both the New Brunswick and Newark campuses with slightly different "flavors". The Newark campus focuses on urban eco-sustainability, the New Brunswick campus focuses on energy technologies, environmental science & policy. Urban Eco-Sustainability covers issues of sustainable resources, carbon sources/sinks, brownfield recovery and utilization. Environmental Systems & Policy covers issues in water resource management, ecology, bioremediation, and environmental planning. Energy technologies concentrates on engineering and new energy technologies (a background in engineering may be required for some of these courses). 

Courses labeled NB are in New Brunswick, courses labeled NW are in Newark.
