Last week, students in the Master of Business and Science course, “Capstone,” presented their final projects to a panel of judges. Presentations took place in a hybrid format at the Science and Engineering Resource Center on Busch Campus. Students, judges, and MBS faculty joined both online and in person.
The Spring 2026 Capstone Retreat challenged students to think expansively, evaluate critically, and collaborate across disciplines. Over two days, Master of Business and Science (MBS) students in the course, “Science and Technology Management Capstone,” gathered on campus for team-building activities, workshops, and a field trip to a site of innovation—Thomas Edison National Historical Park in West Orange, New Jersey.
On December 11th and 12th, over 100 students in our course, “Capstone,” presented their business ideas to a panel of judges. This year, presentations were held at the SERC building and brought together students, faculty, and judges for a series of immersive, real-world business presentations. Presentations, facilitated by lead instructor Tom Bryant, were conducted in a hybrid format, with some teams presenting entirely in-person, online, or a combination of both.

Students pursuing the Master of Business and Science (MBS) degree enroll in the course Science and Technology Management Capstone, where they work in teams to pick a science-based intellectual property and develop a plan to take it to market.

We invited both in-person and online students to take part. One student traveled from upstate New York to attend!

All Master of Business and Science students finish their degrees by completing a Capstone project, where they work in groups to choose an intellectual property and develop a business plan to take it to market.
