The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC), the premier professional association for the cosmetics and personal care sector in the New York tri-state area, honored students at the annual NYSCC Supports Education Night 2022, in the Edison Ballroom, New York City, on December 7th, 2022. The theme was Sustainability. Attendees were encouraged to wear emerald green.
As the field of user experience design (UXD) rapidly evolves, the User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA), NJ Chapter chapter is devoted to supporting UX professionals through all stages of their careers. Similarly, our mission at MBS is to provide our students with exposure to industry professionals and current topics in the industry.
The Rutgers Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program started off the semester with an exciting event. On Wednesday, January 11th, we invited new MBS students to our office in the SERC building for orientation. 25 new students were welcomed by MBS faculty, staff, and alumni. Students who could not join us in person were welcomed via a virtual orientation the following night.

The November 28th “Careers in Cosmetic Chemistry: A Panel Discussion” definitely accomplished that goal. This online event was co-hosted by the Rutgers PSM program and the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC), the premier professional association for the cosmetics and personal care sector in the New York tri-state area.
MBS has a vast, varied, and engaged alumni community. Our alumni are always willing to help current students through mentoring, serving as panelists, and sharing industry-specific knowledge. On Friday, November 18th, five MBS alumni shared their wisdom during a virtual lunch hour. The panel was hosted by MBS executive coach Abbe Rosenthal, MA, PCC.
A Night to Remember
The Rutgers Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program continued our tradition of celebrating the holidays with students, alumni, staff, and faculty. On December 19th, we celebrated the end of another fantastic semester at The Rutgers Club. The event came as students wrapped up their finals, a worthy cause for celebration.
On Tuesday, November 15th, Rupa Misra, Ed.D., hosted four esteemed panelists to examine a nuanced topic: the social responsibility of user experience (UX) designers and product designers. Each panelist examined these questions using their own industry experience and expertise.
Misra serves as the program coordinator for the MBS User Experience Design and Product Design concentrations.
On October 29, 2021, students in Mark Burgess’s Market Assessment and Analysis course visited IKEA–a store that has mastered the art of creating superior customer experience (CX).
