Congratulations to the Master of Business and Science October 2022, January 2023, and May 2023 graduates! 

The MBS Externship Exchange program offers students the opportunity to gain work experience by tackling corporate-sponsored small projects under the guidance of a mentor.

Students in the Professional Science Master’s program end their journey by completing a capstone project. In this project, students choose a science-derived intellectual property (IP) and develop a business plan to take this IP to market. The capstone serves as a reflection of the MBS degree, requiring students to use both the science and business skills that they have learned throughout the course of the program.

The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists, the premier professional association for the cosmetics and personal care sector in the New York tri-state area, hosted Suppliers’ Day in New York City. The event, which took place May 2-3 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, is the premier industry event in North America.  

The MBS Externship Exchange program provides students with opportunities for education through experiential learning. Through externships, students work remotely in multi-disciplinary teams to solve real-world projects for partner organizations under the guidance of professors and external company mentors—some of whom are MBS alumni!

On Wednesday, April 26th, 2023, MBS students learned about the flavors industry. We invited four professionals to answer questions from Dr. Paul Takhistov as well as MBS students. It was a night of industry expertise and professional networking, beneficial to students across concentrations.  

The semester is drawing to a close, and finals are fast approaching. For our most recent Virtual Friday, The Professional Science Master’s program invited trained yoga and mindfulness specialist Katelyn Wallace to host a mindfulness session for our students. For Wallace, mindfulness is the practice of noticing what’s happening in the present moment without judgement.

April 22nd, 2023 is dedicated to a special international holiday—Earth Day! Earth Day has been celebrated worldwide for more than 50 years. It marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement, and it’s a day devoted to the celebration of our planet Earth and to raising awareness for environmental issues.  

According to a report released by the Wall Street Journal, the need for tech skills in all aspects of office work has grown exponentially. Even those who do not work directly in technology need to know the basics—including specific applications.

At the Professional Science Master’s program, we provide our students with the tools to succeed in a modern workforce. On March 29th, Rupa Misra, Ed.D., hosted a panel to provide students with insight into a very special topic—the job search process. Three MBS alumni shared advice and expertise on the job search process with current students.
